Skyline Drive

Skyline Drive stretches 105 miles through Shenandoah National Park along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains, starting at Front Royal in the north and ending at Rockfish Gap in the south. The road climbs from roughly 600 feet elevation at the northern entrance to 3,680 feet after about 42 miles, then rolls down to 1,900 feet at the southern terminus. The pavement is smooth and clean throughout, featuring sweeping curves with no traffic lights on the entire route. The drive provides 75 scenic overlooks with easy pull-offs for stretching and sightseeing, plus access to over 500 miles of mountain trails. While the 35 mph speed limit restricts pace, the road's quality and scenery make it one of the world's most famous mountain drives.
