The Mount Charleston Loop is a ride from the Las Vegas area that climbs Mount Charleston, located just 45 miles northwest of downtown. The road features a lot of nice twists and turns as riders transition from the desert heat to cool mountain forests. Taking Highway 95 north out of Las Vegas, then left on Kyle Canyon, riders follow Kyle Canyon all the way to the Mount Charleston Lodge. The route continues through Deer Creek Road and Lee Canyon before returning via Highway 95. Kyle and Lee canyon roads are well-maintained, though Deer Creek winds through cut hills and has loose rock on some pavement sections. The route offers the experience of going from 105-degree desert to 75-degree forest in about 30 minutes, making it an ideal summer ride from the Las Vegas area.
