Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway spans 22 miles of winding road starting at Exit 10 off Interstate 90 in Spearfish, SD through the canyon to Cheyenne Crossing at the Highway 85 intersection. The route features 19 miles of steady twisting turns and winding road through a towering gorge of rock and trees, offering both technical riding and excellent scenery. The canyon road descends past three waterfalls (Roughlock Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Spearfish Falls), each worthy of a stop. Cheyenne Crossing, a historic stagecoach stop now operating as a café and general store, marks the junction point. Riders can continue to Lead, Deadwood, or Sturgis from this junction via Highway 85 (28.5 miles to Lead/Deadwood).
