This 95-mile world-class route circles Oregon's Mount Hood (11,235 feet) through mountain forests and along the Columbia River. Designated as one of the 25 elite All-American Roads, the route features multiple waterfalls including Multnomah Falls (620 feet), fish ladders where salmon return upstream, and historical Lewis and Clark sites. Starting from Sandy through Government Camp and Hood River to The Dalles, with Mosier and Cascade Locks as alternative routing points. The route features ample twists, turns, accents, and descents with real driving excitement on sections with twisted roads. The Mosier side is less technical with gradual elevation change, while the Dalles side offers more technical challenges. One section provides 10 miles of twisties descending back down cliff edges. There are no services on the road itself; Hood River and The Dalles offer amenities at either end.
