The route winds through historic Black Hills gold mining country to the ghost town of Rochford, home to Moonshine Gulch Saloon. The gravel section is loaded with panoramic mountain views and unbelievable vistas of the Black Hills landscape. Numerous trailheads line both sides of the road offering single-track hiking options and light sand sections. The ride also passes through the ghost town of Mystic (accessible via Tigerville Mystic Road north from Deerfield Lake area). The complete circuit showcases Black Hills history, mining heritage, and forested mountain scenery. Riders comfortable with gravel sections find this route rewarding.
