Roseburg to Crater Lake on Highway 138

Highway 138 from Roseburg is 160 miles of quite scenic riding following the Umpqua River for many miles before reaching Crater Lake National Park and the Crater Lake Rim Road. Starting in Roseburg, the route heads east along Highway 138 through scenic river corridor terrain. Past Diamond Lake, riders follow Route 138 south toward Crater Lake with multiple entry ways into the park. The road features excellent quality with lots of high-speed sweeping curves. Gasoline must be obtained in Roseburg as there are no stations until reaching the Rim Road. The rim road is open all the way around only during very late spring to early autumn, making seasonal timing critical. Riders praise spectacular lake reflections and sweeping curves, noting tourist traffic and seasonal monarch butterfly migrations at higher elevations.
