Wawawai Snake River Loop

The 44-mile Wawawai Snake River Loop departs Pullman via Old Wawawai Road, traversing ridge lines above Palouse farmland with longer sightlines than typical Palouse roads before descending via Wawawai Grade toward the Snake River. The route follows smooth curves along Wawawai Grade with windy sections descending toward the river, then continues through the river valley back toward Lewiston, concluding at Spiral Highway base. Wawawai County Park offers camping, picnic sites, swimming, a hiking trail, and blackberries available in summer, making it a seldom-crowded stop-off point for water and bathrooms. Road conditions include some patched sections, though winter gravel clearing improves rideability. Scenery includes blackberry-lined roadsides and river valley vistas. Riders praise the route as beautiful, in great condition, and uncrowded.
